Every Monday and Thursday of each month Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead conducts Car Seat Check Up Events at The Safety Shoppe from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Trained technicians will be available to assist parents, grandparents, and caregivers with using their car seats correctly. They also distribute educational materials and safety devices such as bike helmets for a $10 donation (and they make sure they fit properly).

Our Family is Having a Baby!

This 1 1/2 hour class is designed for "brothers and sisters to be," ages 3 to 7 years to aid in adjusting to the addition of a new baby in the family. The class includes: characteristics and actions of a newborn, feeding the new baby, care of a newborn using demonstrations, doll play and a tour of the Family Birth Center. One or both parents should accompany the child to class. Classes are subject to availability.

Nutrition For Your Heart

During this class we will discuss the basic nutritional guidelines for having a healthy heart. Each class is lead by a clinical dietitian and is customized to the needs and questions of the present group.

Some topics may include, but not limited to, how to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet, different types of fats, low sodium cooking, label reading, and important supplements you need to be taking. This is a free one hour class open to all in the community. Whether you have heart disease, know someone with heart disease, or just want to learn more about heart healthy eating this class is for you. If you or someone you know has pre-diabetes, this class is for you. A MeritCare dietitian or diabetes educator, will bring you the information that you need.
